Lucas di Grassi and Zane Maloney looking to further improve performance from the first two rounds of Season 12, as Formula E heads to the Miami International Autodrome
Miami E-Prix takes place on Saturday January 31st at 14:05 EST / 19:05 UTC
Lola Yamaha ABT is returning to Miami this weekend, the city where Lucas di Grassi secured the team’s first Formula E podium last season.
This year the all-electric series is heading to a new circuit - The Miami International Autodrome. The 2.32km, 14-turn track weaves its way around the Hard Rock Stadium. Lined with palm trees, it features purpose-built, permanent asphalt blended with the stadium's parking areas.
Despite a challenging weekend last time out in Mexico, the team showed promising improvements in pace over a single lap and overall performance, which they’ll be looking to build on in the Sunshine State.
Lucas di Grassi, #11: “This will be my third time racing in Formula E in Miami and each time has been on a different circuit presenting a range of challenges. Last season in Miami we saw all of the hard work we’d put in as a team pay off with a podium. This work has only increased since then and we hope to draw on the positivity we had in Homestead to be in the fight for points as we race around the Hard Rock Stadium.”
Zane Maloney, #22: “After the struggles with efficiency we had in Mexico, we’ve spent a lot of time in the sim making improvements to put us in the best possible position as we go to Miami. There were, however, a lot of learnings that we took away from the last round and if we combine these with our recent development, we should be able to see more positive results for the team.”
Mark Preston, Team Principal, Lola Yamaha ABT, said: “Lola Cars has a rich history in the US, with success across a number of Championships from IndyCar and Can-Am to endurance racing. As we head into the third round of our second season in Formula E here in Miami, we hope to be able to draw on the development the team has made since Mexico to hopefully enable us to score more points.”
The Miami E-Prix will also play host to a Rookie Free Practice session, where Lola Yamaha ABT simulator test driver, Hugh Barter, will get behind the wheel of the T001.
The third round of Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship takes place on Saturday 31st January, with qualifying at 09:40 local time (14:40 UTC) and the race at 14:05 local time (19:05 UTC). Find out where to watch the action where you are here.
